It is our philosophy to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and that they will be cared for until natural death. Two of our amazing staff have been awarded Unsung Hero awards by The Carer magazine for their tireless work during the COVID pandemic. At night time, two registered nurses and six carers are present in the Home. Our modern, purpose-built Care Home, with its own beautifully landscaped gardens, is located in an idyllic setting on the brow of Haste Hill, right next to Ruislip and Eastcote’s historic woodlands. This tranquil and restful location is easily accessible by car and public transport.
St Vincent's Nursing Home provides accommodation for up to 60 people in four units, each housing 15 people. Staff understood safeguarding and whistleblowing procedures and were clear about the process to follow to report any suspicions of abuse. Complaints procedures were in place and people and relatives were positively encouraged to express any issues so they could be addressed. Equipment in use in the home was being maintained and staff received the training they required to use it safely and effectively. During this inspection we found that the provider had addressed shortfalls identified with the recruitment procedures. Individual risk assessments were in place but risks were not always accurately recorded. Each unit has communal dining, sitting rooms and bathing facilities. The provider as a robust recruitment process in place and staff received the training and supervision they required to provide them with the knowledge and skills to provide care in a safe and effective way. We have therefore encouraged every provider to open their ‘online windows and doors’ to help you make an informed choice. The profile score is a measure of how much information has been provided. The inspection was carried out on 20 and 21 August 2015 and the first day was unannounced. The last inspection took place on 18 March 2014 and the provider was compliant with the regulations we checked. Systems were in place for monitoring the service for quality assurance purposes.
Staff said the registered manager was visible and very supportive. Meetings and surveys took place so people, relatives and staff could discuss any matters and provide their feedback about the service. Recruitment procedures were being followed so that only suitable staff worked at the service. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and staffing was reviewed if dependency levels changed.

Some care homes are registered to provide personal care only, for example help with washing, dressing and giving medication. Staff recruitment procedures were in place and these were followed to ensure only suitable staff were employed at the service. The service had a long serving and stable staff team, providing good continuity of care. The complaints procedure was available and people, relatives and staff felt able to express concerns so they could be addressed. Risk assessments for equipment and safe working practices were in place to mitigate risks to people visiting and working at the service and were updated annually. Input from people and, where appropriate, their representatives was not evidenced in care plan reviews.
People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. St Vincent's Nursing Home can provide accommodation and nursing care for up to 60 people with general nursing needs and end of life care.

The service has four units each of which accommodates 15 people in single rooms with en-suite facilities. Incident and accident records were not always reviewed and actions were not always identified to reduce potential risks to people using the service.
